Founded, in 1991 by Dr. David R Carter, Carter Veterinary Medical Center has become well-known in Carmel and surrounding communities for providing great care for thousands and thousands of pets over the years. As a matter of fact, our medical facility has earned a reputation for excellence, and our compassion and commitment have attracted two and sometimes three generations of pet owners. We've even begun to see more and more pets for second opinions. Why? Because after more than 10 years of providing quality healthcare, animal lovers and pet owners have come to trust us. They know we're dedicated to providing accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans. They know we love animals, too. Most of all, they know we have the experience to give their pets the care they deserve.
David R Carter, DVM
"Your pets deserve the same comprehensive, dependable medical care as anyone else in your family. My goal has always been to provide exactly that, and to do so with a real sense of concern and caring. In the ten-plus years since founding this medical center, I still follow that same goal. I want you to be completely satisfied with the medical attention your dog or cat gets, but it's really about helping your pet live a happy, healthy and active life."

"I suppose my interest in veterinary medicine was a kind of birthright. My father is a doctor, my mother is a nurse, and I grew up on a working horse farm. In fact, I was interested in a career as a physician until I visited a veterinary school. .and it just clicked. I fell in love with the idea of being a pet physician, and I still feel the same way. I know that animals enrich our lives, and I feel fortunate that I'm able to make a positive difference in these kinds of lives every day,"
