Carter Vet is Taking Action to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Current as of May 18th, 2020:
NEW BUSINESS HOURS STARTING MONDAY, MAY 18TH
As Indiana slowly starts to re-open, Governor Holcomb's Executive Order 20-26 says healthcare facilities, including veterinary clinics, may begin performing elective procedures. Governor Holcomb's 'Back on Track Indiana' plan to re-open the state of Indiana says that Indiana's re-opening will be dictated by the trends in the occurrences of COVID-19 cases, as well as several other factors including the availability of ventilators to patients & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers.
In response to this new Executive Order and Holcomb's 'Back on Track Indiana' plan, we have decided to slowly begin to "re-open" our facility to its normal operations by temporarily adjusting our hours of operation to allow for elective procedures to be performed.
Until Further Notice, Our Hours of Operation Are:
MON, WED, FRIDAY: 8am - 6pm
TUES & THURSDAY: 7am - 6pm
We are taking these measures to not only continue to help protect the health & safety of our clients and our team by limiting as much face-to-face exposure as we can while also attempting to slowly begin to return to our normal workplace operations. We have taken great measures in monitoring this situation daily in an effort to be as diligently compliant with Indiana's COVID-19 restrictions and regulations as we can be.
We are continuing to limit our lobby traffic as much as possible, so we kindly ask our clients to continue to respect our new COVID-19 safety protocols, including adhering to the 6-ft social distancing recommendations, as well as calling our office from the parking lot before your appointment. We also strongly recommend our clients to enter our facility wearing a face-mask if at all possible.
We greatly appreciate your patience & understanding during this tumultuous time for our society. We are dedicated to helping aid in our nation's efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 while still providing our patients with the highest-level of healthcare available.
Current as of March 26th:
WE ARE NOW LIMITING OUR LOBBY TRAFFIC
To adhere to the CDC, WHO, and AVMA's social distancing recommendations, we are now limiting our lobby traffic. We kindly ask if you have an appointment scheduled with us, to please call our office at (317) 844-6868 from your car to let us know you have arrived in the parking lot and a receptionist will get you checked-in. We will call you as soon as an exam room becomes available while you wait in your car. From there, we ask that you choose from the following 3 options:
1.) We'll call you when an exam room becomes available and you can come inside and we'll escort
you directly into an exam room.
2.) We'll call you when an exam room becomes available and you can stay in your car and we'll
have one of our technicians come out to your car and get your pet and bring them inside. Dr.
Carter can then call you and talk with you on the phone as he examines your pet.
3.) You may also drop-off your pet. You can call us once you've arrived in the parking lot, and a
team member will come get your pet and bring them inside, and you can then leave and Dr.
Carter will call you when he's finished. You can then come back and pick up your pet at your
We kindly ask that if you choose to remain in your vehicle and not enter the building to please pay by credit card over the phone.
PLEASE NOTE: If you don't have an appointment scheduled and just need to stop by and pick up food, medications, etc. or are dropping off for a dental or other surgical procedure, you're welcome to enter the lobby without calling first as long as you're not exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, fatigue, difficulty breathing) within the past 24-hrs, haven't been in contact with anyone who's tested positive for COVID-19, and currently aren't positive for COVID-19. We may need to ask you to wait outside on the sidewalk if we have too many people in the lobby. We thank you for respecting our COVID-19 safety protocols to help us ensure the health & safety of both our team and our clients.
Current as of March 23rd, 2020:
On Monday, March 23rd Governor Holcomb issued an Indiana statewide stay-at-home order until April 7th. According to the Department of Homeland Security & the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, veterinary clinics are considered "essential" businesses, meaning they are vital to infrastructure. This means that we're keeping our doors open during this stay-at-home order. In accordance with the CDC and WHO's guidelines, in attempting to halt the spread of this virus we are adhering to their social-distancing recommendations by kindly asking clients who are exhibiting the signs and symptoms of Coronavirus/COVID-19 (cough, fever, fatigue, difficulty breathing) to stay home for your own health and safety and for the safety of our staff. Please call our office at (317) 844-6868 to discuss any medication or prescription food needs, and we can assist you in ordering from our online pet pharmacy via our website www.cartervet.com or we can bring items out to your car, or we'd also be happy to reschedule your appointment.
Our team practices infection prevention and disease control on a routine, daily basis to protect both animals and humans. In fact, in August of 2019 our hospital received certification in the 'Heroes for Healthy Pets' Infectious Disease Management Program, certifying that our team is knowledgeable in the most up-to-date disease management and prevention protocols. We practice frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-traffic areas on a daily basis to ensure the highest level of protection for both our furry patients and our human clients.
The news about Coronavirus/COVID-19 seems to be changing by the hour, but please know that we are actively monitoring the situation on a daily basis and will continue to update our social media and website of any new developments.
You can stay up-to-date on all of the most recent Coronavirus/COVID-19 developments through the CDC website Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or the World Health Organization website.
